The Travel Thread
I'm taking off in early November, and will be gone for a while, probably a year or two. I'm not really gonna use a strict travel schedule, I'll just move on to the next place when I'm satisfied!
Starting in Asia - working my way up through Singapore, Thailand, China, India, Japan... then across to the USA. Haven't decided exactly where in the USA, but New York, LA & San Fran are definites. Then down to Mexico City. From there, on to Brazil, particularly Rio & Sao Paulo. Then, across to Europe. I haven't decided the plan for Europe yet. I spent 3 months there in 2004, so I've seen a few things, but theres a lot more I wanna get to! If my cash & energy holds out any longer, I'll be going down to Morocco, and Africa.
It's gonna be a blast!!

i got back from vietnam and hong kong this morning.
HK was crazy - chaotic - lots of fun.
Vietnam was the same ... but in a different way.
Both totally different places! 18 days out of Melbourne was fantastic
Now NY and Tokyo is in November but with the same plan ... renting an apartment. Lynt - I'll email over the links I've found ... the apartment solution is a better one than hotels I think!

looks like i might be going to work on a project in india for a couple of months at the end of the year, which would be interesting. down south in bangalore, staying with a rich old man with servants and escorts to show me round.
then it'll be off to thailand for a few weeks with the english boy to spend new years, a couple of weeks trekking about followed by some serious beach bumming time.
just hoping it all works out because the india source is less than reliable. probably should book and just lock it in.

from what uve said, if i was you i would definetly go...
3 of my female friends just got back from India last week, and had the best time travelling theyve ever had (according to them). They were all worried about the culture shock etc and the fact that 2 of them were blondes and 1 was a red head, lol, they said they had everyone staring at them the whole time and calling out to them, but apart from that it was fine....
I must admit reading ur post i am very jealous, cos i love thailand to death, and India is in my top 3 desination to do list.
I miss travelling... Cant wait till the end of the year is up and i head to thailand myself. Planning to spend at least a month there around january next year.

with india, it's not the culture shock or anything that puts me off, it's the fact that the connection is my mum's partner and they have a pretty volatile relationship, so if that goes tits up, my plans to work there might as well. so it's a tricky one to call.
as for thailand...might see you there matey...jan is when i play to be there.

And it just was an accident you know, we started talking... about panty hose, she was saying... whatever that's not the point of the story but what the point is is that through this accidental meeting... it's like a Hitchcock movie you know where you're thrown into a rubber bag and put in the trunk of a car, you find people. You find them. Something, is is it karma? Maybe. But we found him, that's the important thing. And I got Bonnie a wonderful pantsuit.

The rubber plant was surprised. If the rubber plant could have spoken, it wouldn't have said anything. That's how surprised the rubber plant was.
LOVED its guts!
Marrakech was OUT OF CONTROL and I loved Fes. Covered a fair bit of it over a couple of weeks and spent some time at the end on the west coast in Essaouira. Another major highlight was laying back on the red sands of the Sahara and taking in a sunset- madness.
It lives and breathes, fair Morocco. Full of life. I would surely recommend it but have much to say on the matter and not enough time in between seeing clients to sprout on with the poetry and enthusiasm it deserves..
PM me your email and I'll send you the email I sent my friends detailing our Moroccan adventures- it's long but very descriptive and should give you a fair idea..

Um, I dunno where my crew are living... thinking North London as it sounds pretty familiar. Wicked. We'll have to exchange email addresses and all that malarky. Rad.
