Melbourne Techno??

Post by Re-Moved »

Hi all I'm in Auckland but am heading to Melbourne for my summer and wanted to know if there is much of a Techno scene in Melbourne. I know that Richie Hawtin played last New Years.

also I wanted some recommendations on inner city suburbs that I should look for a place to stay in.

Any feedback would be much appreciated.

there is a bit of a techno scene in melbs, and on this site, youll hear about it.
and theres lots more on offer than ol richie!!!

are you stayin at backpackers or what?
if so, theres quite a few in the CBD, around the queen vic markets on elzabeth st is probably a good option.

Melbourne Techno is alive and well.
www.inthemix.com.au has a bit of stuff on the Melbourne forums.

Check out Ben Cromack, Dave Pham and that crew. Melbourne Techno Collective parties are a great bet, or anything that "Blow Your Own Way" does.

in that case, central to CBd suburbs are kind of expensive, but worth it location wise..

fitzroy, collingwood, yarraville, carlton, north melbourne are some good places to look...

there are also often short term share houses that could be fun and convenient (dont have to have appliences etc)
two good places to look for notices are readings bookshop on lygon st carlton, and friends of the earth on smith st fitzroy...

Digby's still playing around melbs, i think he plays mostly house these days, but Will-e-tell's quit. I think he's a real estate agent or something now.
