I've been looking for a broombroom for about 4 weeks now (Trading Post, Carsales.com.au etc) and so far not one seller's made the effort to have it RACV inspected. I'm lucky if they've had it roadworthied!! I'm gun shy now

If it's roadworthy it'll more than likely stack up pretty good on an RACV check.

Remember, if you are working with a limited budget, I'd ONLY be looking at roadworthied cars. If you need to organise a RWC, then you could be up for alot more than $170.00.

IMO anyway...

Trust, I'm not wasting my time with non RWC cars. The one I was planning on getting was RW (apparently) but there are so many things that need immediate attention that it would blow my budget...and not in a good way :teef:

I'm beginning to feel better though, thanks guys. My Dad used to always help me with car buying, so I feel kinda alone in this, that's all. He made good decisions, I tend to make hasty/stupid/emotional ones.

in fact, while we're on the subject.....

if you have $2400 to spend then DONT GET A CAR!!!

That is no where near enough money to buy a decent car. Any car under $5000 is bound to end up costing you shitloads in the long run. maintence costs of cars in that price range are massive (as you've just learned).

take your $2.4k and go buy a kickarse lappy, bike, dj toy, scooter or even a plasma TV.... don't buy a car. they suck, they are dangerous, you don't need them, especially in melbourne.

I bought my old Honda for $3000 and it was kick-ass! It would have lasted another 10 years thanks to the wicked mechanic I've got.

I need a car for the work I do, and I'm not going to get a job without one, so it's out of the question. I see your point, but I just don't have the luxury.

I have been killing some time looking through carsales.com. There seems to be a few Ford's that look reasonable, within your budget. Nothing in Honda's, Mazda's, etc.

CIA > i hear you babe, i refuse to spend longer than two days at a time in Adelaide... (lived there for a loong time)

every time i go there, from the minute i set foot in the state, to the minute i leave, bad things happen, i hate the world, and all the humans that populate it reveal thier narrow minded, valium of denial ways to me...

:(

Aww Tash, that sucks babe. If it is any consolation, I won't be doing anything on nye either, cos I just went to the doctor and HE FUCKED UP MY EAR.

Nice going, dude.

Now I have a small perforation on my ear drum, am bleeding and oozing pus, am in complete agony and am still in Adelaide

I have just sent my brother to the bus station to get me a greyhound ticket outta here. A few diazepam, a fist full of codiene and a head bandage to stop my ear from oozing brains and I'll be home.

:off to have a bit of a cry:

NYE I played a 9hr gig in this little tent filled with hay bales
- now I have to wash EVERY SINGLE FUCKING RECORD, cause they are covered in that much dust, otherwise it was a rockin gig..

Part 2 of gripe - playing in a tent filled with hay bales - & no fire extinguisher.... I'm pretty sure council never inspected that stage...
