yes. holy shit. it is a thing of beauty.
just so you don't confuse me for someone who's not a cynical lunix user: nothing in there is actually innovative. multitouch has been done before. locality hinting has been done before. media on phones has been done before. touchscreens on phones have been done before. 160dpi displays haven't been done before, but we do a 220dpi one.
but the integration is absolutely stellar, and that and the beauty of the ui just screams apple, and i'd probably take one as my phone if the standby time was better than my n90.
there, i've said it. nuff respect.

was always going to happen. little bit behind the 8ball in regards to functionality. but no doubt it will sell well unless the big 3 can bring out somehing with more before its released. p-hone life is less that freaking GFX cards.
i thought linksys registered the name iphone ages ago. infact i thought they brought out one.
wonder what the battery life is like?

Let's see what the productivity software is like. If Apple can beef up iCal etc and actually get Mail linking in with Exchange servers and/or 'push' email services, they've got a huge corporate client base right there.

Nokia lies! My N70 can't handle more than 1.5 hours of talk time but it quotes 3.5. It's also pipped at 11 days standby. Bullshit. I might get 3 days if I'm lucky. And if I use the vibration option, or take pics, it can be as low as 1-2 days.
It also switches itself off whenever it pleases (usually in the middle of a text) even when the battery's full. Ohh, and it swaps the local time for London time too. A real pain in the ass when you've got an alarm.
It's only 8 months old

Maybe it's the actual model you chose, or you just have bad luck coz NOKIA FOR LIFE!jbs wrote:Whats wrong with ipods?

I've had Nokia's since 1998 (prob about 3-4 different ones) and one Sony Ericsson, of which I will never get again.
Love the menu's and OS of the Nokia.
I guess at the end of the day, like Mac vs PC - it's what you're used to, and there's probably bad examples found within all brands.

it is not a phone. 800x480 screen at 220dpi (absolutely lush for web browsing), web browser, jabber/google talk with voice and video calling, rss feed reader, does video pretty well also (mpeg4 at ~25fps). both announced and on sale today.
But it's not a phone! What do I tell my friends and co-workers it is?
What a quandry.

just watched the keynote. fuck i love steve jobs.
phone looks mad but providers need better data pricing structures instead of making it uber premium (unless you're on 3, which is shit).
i use the walkman function of my SE phone (which is so much better than any of my nokias ever were) i'd probably get an iphone (for even better ical integration as well as mobile apps). and just because it looks sexy and i <3 apple.
they can do no wrong (although i was very disappointed at their environmental ranking by greenpeace).

There's no justice, just us.
Man, I am very rarely excited by technology, but after checking this out at http://www.apple.com I am suitably impressed and will be definitely looking at aquiring one of these once they are released. Depending on price of course.

Greenpeace spell it out fairly clearly.
Re the iPhone - as Telstra run the only EDGE network in Australia, it looks like they'll be the ones that Apple do a deal with, just like AT&T's Cingular in the USA.
Then again, hopefully in 12 months there'll be 3G versions with bigger storage and longer lasting batteries. Cheaper than ~$AUD900+ too.
