Phil Hartnoll and Myagi
Saturday July 7@ Miss Libertine
Fresh from playing at the Glastonbury Festival, electronic music maestro Phil Hartnoll (Orbital / Long Range) returns to Melbourne for a one-off show. Also headlining is Canadian breakbeat producer Myagi who has been destroying dancefloors worldwide with his funk-fuelled live act. Supported by local favourites: Lil miSbreaks, Brainstorm, DJ Ides, Little Evil, Ambassadors of the Old School, Snowie, Scratch Foundation, Nic Nac, Deviant vs Nago. Lucky Break will be a night of hip-hop, electro, breaks, techno and much casino-themed fun.
Presale tickets only $20 + booking fee available from: Alley Tunes, Central Station, Collectors Corner, DMC, Mixed Bag Records, Northside Records, Polyester & Miss Libertine.
Phil Hartnoll (Orbital/Long Range)
Phil Hartnoll and his brother, Paul, formed Orbital who became one of the biggest names in techno during the '90s. Though Phil and Paul Hartnoll first charted with a single, the 1990 British Top 20 hit "Chime," the duo later became known for many critically praised albums. Orbital's busy tour schedule included headlining the Glastonbury Festival, the Royal Albert Hall, and Tribal Gathering. For more info go to www.myspace.com/orbitalofficialwebsite
Phil Hartnoll’s new creative project is Long Range, formed in conjuction with Nick Smith. Phil Hartnoll will be playing with Long Range at the 2007 Glastonbury Festival a couple of weeks before headlining the Lucky Break party in Melbourne. For more info on Long Range check out http://www.myspace.com/longrangemusic
Myagi
www.myagimusic.com, fight club, pure phunk, west records, money shot recordings
Myagi aka Sole Claw aka Andrew Mavor has rapidly become a major part of North America’s contribution to electronic music. Hailing from Canada, he has, in the last year, played the vast majority of the world and has become touted as one of the new major North American talents. His releases and remixes are in constant demand, as shown by a relentlessly expanding discography which boasts variations and a range of styles most producers could only dream of pulling off. For more info go to http://www.myspace.com/myagisoleclaw
From his first record in 2001, the Myagi sound has grown and expanded with the electronic music scene, all the while retaining its independence and unpredictability.
He has played sets on the BBC, the CBC and Crystal Method's Community Service, landed a standout track on the Plump DJ's Saturday Night Lotion, and recently did an extremely well received exclusive mix album for DJ Magazines www.djdownload.com on behalf of labels West and Splank.
In both the studio and in the club, Mavor has become renowned for his seamless maneuvering between hip hop based funky breaks and nu skool, house and techy big rooms tunes. Myagi’s live sets have been described as innovative, relentlessly funky and ludicrously fun, and have led to a devoted fan base in all corners of the globe. Free to those that can afford it, very expensive to those that can't.
I'm excited too!
And not about Big Kev being dead...
About this party!
This is looking to the breaks party of the year!
Phil Hartnoll and Myagi in the same room!
Ohh, I have to go clean out my dacks.
Lucky I stocked up on Big Kevs washing detergent before he went to the big storage cabinet under the sink in the sky.

sorry been out of interweb range all day. Hence my no responseThe Mixtress wrote:Found it in wiki:
In 2007 Robert Smith has been featured on a single called "Please" from Paul Hartnoll's album, The Ideal Condition. The single is available as a 7", a 12" and as a CD single through the Kids label.[5]
But I learnt something thanks to mixxy. Think Phil is concentrating on the whole Long Range project. Had a sneak preview of the album... it's awesome.
Just a tiddly tad excited about this party... it's gonna rock bigtime!

Just Phil, not Paul. The brothers are working on separate projects now.Little Evil wrote:No, just Phil - I think?
Unless someone is springing a suprise on us?
And seeing it's Phil and Nick in 'LongRange,' and Phil has major ties to Aus, I'd think it would be just him.
But I may be wrong?
Sal/Waz?
Pretty sure it's just Phil mate.
If you visit the myspace.com/luckybreak777 there's a free track from Long Range to download. Check out the comments section.

Elflaymo gave Brain a socking every time he screamed - all to the tune of Chicgo and Raja Rams mash up of 'money for nothing'
There's no pansies in my dreams.
Take your ball mangling like a man!
Pulling out all the barely listened to funky b-sides on my tough break rekkids.
Have come upon quite a bit of gold, Brain my good man.
"I'm tired of all this extra weight in my pants Martha, time to retire the old boys - it's not like we are going to have any more kids since your uterus fell out, and I started shoooting blanks at 83.....
Ok, I'm ready to roll - put some weight behind that wheel Martha! I can take it. I stormed Normandy for christs sakes! I can damnwell handle an old fashioned ball mashing!
Don't hold back now! Put some grunt in it you old sow.
Did I tell you I shagged your sister?

Dear Sir slash Madam,
RE: 777 lucky break; I am interested to know how after years of these "Breaks" events as I hear them fondly called, how do these unfearing hellcats keep pulling clever names for parties out of their asses please?
"Lucky Break" - jesus christ i cant even work out how to tie my shoelaces!
When will the well run dry? When will we be forced from unconventional and revert back to traditional, or, God forbid...... ....cute?

This is indeed a pertinent question. I believe the root of the solution lies in the fact that the names for said "breaks" events are not actually stored in the anal repositories of aforementioned "unfearing" hellcats. Word has it that there is an ancient broken beat tome whose location is steeped in mystery and is only known to those whose hearts beat at 131.9bpm. I have had the mysterious pleasure of stumbling on to this mighty musical manual at 4am one Saturday morning in a dark Melbourne alley, and can confirm that the following events will be happening in the near future:
1. Heart Break - Valentine's Day 2008
2. Ciggie Break - July 2 2008
3. Icebreaker - Ben Cousins Welcome Back Gig - August 2008
4. Leg Break - Boxing Day Test Match 2009
5. Disc Break - Melbourne Formula One GP March 2010
At that point everything became a blur and I woke up 5 hours later on the Brainstorm Clubhouse couch, feeling slightly melancholy, like I'd won Power Ball and put my ticket through the washing machine in my favourite pants. I hope this goes some way to clearing up the "mystery" surrounding this otherwise masterful display of linguistics.
Yours in breaks,
Break Magnet
