Off Beat downtempo and ambient audio, May 6th, Workshop

Post by universal sea »

It was a fairy tale Off Beat, from beginning to end.

Four sets of sincere quality:

1) Faculties Indestructible, after a 30-minute classical/ambient introduction from Sea

2) Lephrenic, reminding us again why he's the master

3) Factory Worker, in an emotionally charged story that mirrored my current state of mine. Fantastic.

4) Sea, charged up, hammered, and inspired as he hasn't been before in Melbourne

Let's start with the first one, ambient Sea and Faculties Indestructible. DJs please prepare your playlists.

Lephrenic followed this up with another devastatingly solid performance. He's one of the best DJs in Melbourne - definitely the best IDM DJ - and people are still finding out about him. He starts off with brand new Cinematic Orchestra and takes it from there.

Thanks all the same but I cannot possibly agree with that.

That's more like it, though still contestable.

The latest set, Factory Worker.

I simply cannot stop listening to this. The mixing is not the best, but the journey sculpted is incredible. It tied into my emotions at the time, culminating in my all-time Off Beat audio highlight (Requiem for a Dream) before muddling through the rest of the inspirational journey. There is a lot of rock, some folksie stuff, dubstep, its a good variety. Well done.
