Firefly - Yes indeed! with the finale that is Serenity?
Great series - that got cut short I thought - it was only 9 episodes I think - not enough in my eyes. I really liked that show. The super weapon girl now plays the female terminator in the Sarah Connor Chornicles - V nice
But yes - Quality Escort that stars in Firefly
Yeah apparantly the fans raised 100 grand to try and get them to make another series. loved it soooo much. wish there was more.
Yeah Summer Glau in Terminator is average. Only cause the whole concept is average. The chick that plays Sarah is a whimp!!!! bring on the terminating buffness.
The rubber plant was surprised. If the rubber plant could have spoken, it wouldn't have said anything. That's how surprised the rubber plant was.

It is based mainly around the writer's heroin addiction, but gives great insight into her time working on the street & in Melbourne Brothels.
i read that, it was good to read the melbourne bits but i got bored of the whole, im off smack, im on it, off it, on it....self indulgent to the max (like junkies are) and quite badly written.
script on all of that. had some interesting bits, but hated the way it was written and it was definitely a self-indulgent effort. she's a columnist with the age now, so at least it got her somewhere.
I was chatting with a mate at work the other day about something similar - his old lady lives across the road from the daily planet (I think that was the one he mentioned) - he was saying that it's quite amusing seeing the different people going in and out through the day.
Quite a cross section of the community by the sounds of it.
I don't think there really is such a thing as the 'typical' client in that industry.
Yeah, i got a bit tired of her writing, i am not the smartest person, and i hated having to look words that i didn't know. i am sure she just used them cos she is a "writer" and feels the need to use big words!
If you wanna read a lighthearted book with lots o Melbourne references, give Peepshow by Leigh Redhead a read. Crappy fiction, about a detective/stripper!
Back to the other subject, i used to wait for a friend of mine to get off the train at Elsternwick, often waiting on Horne St (still makes me giggle), where the Daily Planet is. On one occasion a police car pulled up next to me and the cop asked me "are you right? what are you doing here?". I think he thought i was watching people go in and out of DP! Basically, i reckon watching that is the same as watching people go in and out of meat market nightclubs. But at least people going to DP have some $$ and are upfront about what they are there for!
I think escorts are fine, good idea. they prob have cleaner smuts and are more skilled than the general population.
Like you dont hire some dude off the street to build your house, so why would you find some random girl to see to you vs gettign a professional.
the best thing about thailand was teh prostitutes, probably the only people that werent hellbent on ripping us off. best night had out there was me and sten getting ssssmashed in some sex district in south playing connect 4 (boardgame fyi) drinking beer and watching insanely hot girls dance around and be 'lol' (no ping pong shit tho), yer was a bit weird when sweaty russians came and took the girls away but girls didnt care was work for them.
dont see why people get all conserved about sex trade tbh.

"You don't understand. A garage... I can't even pull in there. It's like going to a prostitute. Why should I pay, when if I apply myself, maybe I could get it for free?" - George Costanza
2ndly, are you sure those 'ladies' in Thailand were actually 'Ladies'?

Quoted for posterity.
But you're right nic - I'm a little reserved about it all due to my upbringing I guess... it's all very taboo.... but, as long as people CHOOSE to do it and aren't being victimised - then it's providing a basic service in exchange for coin and is one of the oldest professions doing the rounds.
