Watched Run Fatboy Run the other night. Was "nice" but not Simon Pegg unfortunately. figures, since he didn't actually write it. And Nick Frost, Mark Heap and the other kids from Spaced weren't in it. Just didn't have the amazing tear enducing jokes like Simon's other films.
oh NOOOOOO

I was hoping this was roll around funny, i need a roll around funny watch
Yeah see it anyway. It's a good story, but I didn't roll around like I did in Hott Fuzz, that's all.

Watched "Awake" last night.
Jessica Alba is easy on the eye, but the movie was flawed.

Haven't seen it but have seen the ad's... looked awesome the first time i saw the ad when the tv was muted, got the sound and now it kinda looks like rubbish. Love those kind of films though, especially action. Hopefully it's not too bad.

Sounds cool but the Americaness may show through like it usually does.

i liked the russian original more.

sadly, the original move ("the eye") makes far more sense and is a better film imo.

remakes rarely work or add anything to the original - "cape fear" being the only recent exception that comes immediately to mind.

I thought they were both good. For different reasons of course. The Russian one is a little distant because of the time period it was made in and the Russian origin. But I must say it is worth it for the end. Totally explains what puzzled you in the George Clooney Solaris.

not going to see a film coz some grey haired critic didn't like it would be the same as going to see Tiesto coz the ravorz say he's # 1

for me, a good critic can be like a friend with similar tastes - you listen to thier recommendations.

of all the cirtics out there, i find margret and david often have a similar response to movies that i have so its a great way to seperate wheat from chaff. "grey haired" seems a stupid term of reference

but if you have a strong taste for shit movies it wouldnt make sense to listen to them

I'm partially with Foundation Stepper on this one.

I don't have a lot of time to get down to the cinema and it ain't cheap, so I am frequently guided by the reviews I read in the Weekend Australian by David Stratton and Evan Williams. I also tend to agree with David's reviews and tastes in film, so if he can save me time and money when it comes to the cinema that's fine by me!

I also get recommendations from the guy that owns my local DVD shop. He is a complete cinema snob, and has recommended some good films to me. Ocassionally I disagree with him but that is due to differences in taste, which are easy to acknowledge. His film watching time is too precious to appreciate a rom com, and his funny bone is not attuned to things like Talledaga Nights :D

I'm going to see Tiesto
Although I haven't heard anything of his yet so it could go either way. I went to Daft Punk not really liking them and after that (omg!) it was rad. Then again, that is Daft Punk... rockin.

yeah that's it, I have a penchant for shithouse movies

I don't listen to reviewers for the simple fact that they're about as accurate as the weather man.

So, you've found a reviewer who's opinion you trust. If they bag a movie and tell you not to see it then would you not go, based on their review?

jeez does every comment need teef to be registered as in jest?

given i have such little time for movies - yes i wouldnt go to a movie that had been bagged by a reviewer i trust. there are too many other good movies to waste the time on something that odds are i wouldnt like, or like as much as others

i have been to the cinema 2x in the last 20 months so ... thats the circumstance- different if you have the leisure time to see heaps on films, good, bad and average

Watched Eastern Promises tonite. Twas great and i really like Viggo Mortensen in the role he played.

Vincent Cassell does nothing except infuriate me in everything he's in (which I suppose works in his favour because he seems to play either idiots or bad guys).

Its such a shame he's married to Monica Bellucci.

Saw a couple of "interesting" movies on the weekend...

There Will Be Blood: Pretty weird movie TBH. Day Lewis does well, and sure - he plays a selfish, greedy, murderous and money-hungry asshole... but is that ALL the movie is about? 7/10.

Fargo: Finally got to see the classic that everyone raves about. Interesting movie, another one that doesn't really seem to go anywhere - but well shot, well written, acted and directed. Marvie really liked it, for me it was a 7/10.

Arj Barker LIVE in Sydney: Awesome. Fucking gold comedy. Well worth a watch. 9/10.

A Bronx Tale: Forgot I'd already seen this one. Good movie, classic De Niro as always. 6.5/10.

I adore Vincent Cassell! I recently watched The Apartment which has both him and Monica in it. She didnt have a very deep role in that one, but I enjoyed watching him.
