Electric Babylon @ The Nash - ANZAC eve, Thursday April 24th

Some fun party vibes up for grabs in Geelong.

ELECTRIC BABYLON
ANZAC EVE

Thursday April 24th
The National Hotel
Moorabool Street, Geelong

2 Rooms, free entry.

GROOVE ROOM
KEIR drum & bass
FLIPPO dubstep
DUBSPIRAL dub / reggae / chill

FRONT BAR
CONTINUUM (LIVE) minimal / electro / techno
NTCU Ableton Live electronic jam
MACROPHIDIA minimal / prog

Okay guys here is something I think pretty much everyone can enjoy.
Two of the melbourne beats community showcasing their skills in Geelong alongside some talent you may not be familiar with.

KEIR needs, no introduction... ...very chuffed to have him play down here in the sleepy streets of Geelong.

FLIPPO I'm sure you're familiar with, having recently been signed etc. Very surprised that he's kept under the aural radar in Geelong until now. I've been hearing lots of people in Geelong say they are feeling the dubstep at the moment, this is long overdue.

CONTINUUM are a collective of three from Melbourne, and have been writing some awesome music. Having recently played Maitreya festival, they are sounding sweet at the moment. Expect some deep LIVE electronic soundscapes.

NTCU are two Geelong locals who have been mixing on Ableton Live at a few parties around the area. Endeavoring to escape the boundaries of genres, these guys will be playing all kinds of electronic odds and ends.

MACROPHIDIA is about to go to New Zealand for a holiday. Lucky him. He will be playing Minimal and Progressive sounds. Macrophidia has been a part of this from the start, you've probably seen him floating about.

DUBSPIRAL is my newfound alter ego. Laid back dubby broken-up, chilled-out stuff. Sub warmers... that kind of stuff.

So there it is. Myself and a few others are going to have a crack at making the hotel look very different. Come along and check it out for a sweet kickstart to the ANZAC long weekend.[/img]

Yeah those four bass bins will make the sound adequate. Not funktion1 or heartical quality, but awesome compared to some other places.

Also hiring an additional sub for the front room for those who are familiar with the Nash and the lack of kick in the front bar.

Will be throwing all sorts of junk around the place to make it look a bit different. Decor fun from down under.

What is so funny mr huge?

Mark please stop slagging off Geelong.

You know you practically evolved from amphibious larvae broods wallowing in the Barwon...

get fucked :o .

far far far beyond all expectations. Can't get over how many people turned up!

I drank way too many pints early in the night and managed to a) accidentaly press eject on the wrong CDJ twice (wheel?), b) play the same song twice, c) accidentaly set the smoke machine on a 5 second cycle for about 5 bursts nearly killing everyone. But the mood was high enough that no one gave a fuck.

Seriously had a ball. Placed looked amazing, with the front bar turned into a gypsie circus, and the back room a smokey dark eucalyptus forest. Sound was also much better than I anticipated.

Nice to put a face to the name Marke.

Enourmous respect to Kal for having the audacidty to make this happen. 8)

Never thought I'd see anything remotley like that in Geelong.

Am waiting on a CD of photos so I can post them up here.

Was a great night, thanks to all who helped make it a reality.

Yeah Mark, there will be a next one for sure. I am planning the decor at the moment. Hopefully make it just as interesting, but remarkably different.

At the next one in the back room we will hold a raffle with both silly and wicked prizes. The raffle will be drawn just before the last DJs start.

If anyone has any suggestions as to some new kind of music to have at the next one, or if anyone is in the know about some up-and-coming artists / djs from Geelong who might fit into the Babylon theme, then please let me know.

Thanks again to all involved. Flippo and Keir smashed it. When Keir had started, that place was packed man. Capacity easily.

Management says it was the biggest night since the grand final...

That means we even beat New Years Eve.

Photos up in a few days.

Who said Geelong can't party? The vibe in that place was as far removed from the stereotype of a shit night out in G-town as you can get.

Thanks again guys that was fucken sick.
