I need some new knives, don't know which ones to go with those as everyone has a different favourite.

I like Sabatier's but apparently they're a bit of work to look after because they oxidise. I havent found out yet what you're supposed to do to look after them.

good knives are like a top shelf liquor. once you've experienced the difference, you never (want to) go back.

cous cous is awesome. got a great cous cous salad recipe that georgia made for me once - will try to dig it up.

made lots of yummy seasonal food over the weekend. cream of mushroom soup with basil. mushrooms are SO yum right now. all sorts of goodies in season at the moment. gonna make a mushroom risotto one night this week too i reckon.

also made mushroom, potato and silverbeet filo pastry triangle things. made up a really good recipe for these last autumn and am loving making it again!

and a lovely pear crumble with chocolate and hazelnuts through the crumble topping to finish it off :smt023

I love cous cous.

I don't know why, but I always compare it to risotto, 'cept I love cous cous MUCH more.

Had awesome food during the Belgian Beer Course on Saturday, all matched with beer. So good. Chocoloate waffles with Leffe Brune (the best!), chocolate mousse with Sinha Stout, smoked salmon with Hoegaarden, cheeses, gherkins and dion with Stella... recommend!

I ate some awesome poached pears yesterday. They were very yellow with pretty pink & green crushed pistachios scattered over them.

The cook told me it was the saffron poached pear recipe out of Cooks Companion. I'll have to give it a go as they tasted beautiful with a slight vanilla flavour.

Check this out...it's a site to use when you can't be arsed going to the shoppies for extra groceries to make dinner.

www.cookingbynumbers.com

Just click on which items you currently have in your fridge/pantry and they come up with recipes to match. Bloody brills IMO.
