I wish I could answer that question myself. I have a sneaking suspicion that this is a short-term dip for the financials and that the AUD will continue to rally against the greenback, but you only have 15 days... I'd have hedged my bets by doing the 50% the other day and holding onto the other 50%.

Holy shit. You guys are totally leaving in 15 days.

I'm in Perth for a week and Brisbane for a week and Sydney for a week before we go though.

If we are talking really short term there are two things you need to watch.

World Oil Price
Gold

Gold is used as a hedge against inflating currency, and oil tends to do the opposite of the USD (lately).

Oil is correcting (from its peak of $147) a week or so ago and thus the USD is appreciating. I would expect this to continue. Although its most probably run out of most of its steam

Barring unforseen market shocks (like US invading Iran, or a pipeline getting blown up in Nigeria - not outside the realm of possiblity) I would expect oil to continue to drift a little lower (which means USD UP which means AUS down)

I haven't followed gold very closely really recently so not sure on the story there

I'd buy your greenback now.

Of course I have no idea what I'm talking about, just like flapping my gums (or keyboard) so you prob best not to listen to me.
