Re: EARTHQUAKE
yep, inner east, the walls moved, thought we were in a time warp continuum, but it was only a earthquake. bit disappointing really.

Re: EARTHQUAKE
Whoah?!?!
Was at the footy last night and I felt something reminiscent of the minor quakes we got all the time back in California. Thought I was just a bit buzzed, then looked to the stranger next to me and he asked if I felt that, too. I said yes.
So yeah, I did feel something. Thought I was trippin until reading this thread.
I'm homesick now.

Re: EARTHQUAKE
growing up in san fran...
we had to take earthquake packs to school at the start of the year, with food in them that wouldn't perish in case we were trapped in our classrooms...
i remember a large one where the sidewalk actually rippled like a wave, and i found myself on someones lawn next to a bike rider going WTF ?
san fransicans (those of us who like to believe stuff) used to have a theory that san fran was actually the lost city of atlantis, and that we all had tiny gills hidden under our ears, and that one day, the big one would come, and break the city off from the mainland, and we would sink back to the bottom of the ocean again, where we belonged.
silicon valley has actually been tunneling so we can all keep our dotcoms running from under the oceanic plates.
yes.

Re: EARTHQUAKE
Loma Prieta Earthquake in 89. I witnessed 2 girls get thrown out of the school pool by the waves caused by the quake. I got knocked over and thought the light poles were going to come down. Was in a safe place though...football practice on a large field with pads on and a helmet.
Quakes are a way of life for Californians. Was still interesting on Friday though.

Re: EARTHQUAKE
full on! yeah one time we thought it was the big one, house rattling, windows breaking, massive rumbles like thunder but different, and after the dust settled we went outside to find that a massive gum tree had fallen on our house.
not the big one.
not.
yet.

Re: EARTHQUAKE
theres a big fault line (well big for aussie anyways) running through Gippsland. one night we had a quake, and my dad I were working out in Boolara and the paddock we were in had this part where the grouind had shifted abouit 1.5 - 2 metres against itself (ie two point that were next to each other were now 1.5 metres apart vertically. was quite amazing (to us anyways)
the fault line runs right underneath Loy Yang Power station, and is apparently subject to a major quake every 50 years or so, which apparently we are well overdue for. Shouldn't be too much of a problem tho, it only creates 12% of our power nationally. YIKES.
of course above facts may be wrong, I'm doing all this from memory.

Yeah being on the 5th floor of an office building was interesting - whole building wobbled back and forth fairly slowly - I thought I was dizzy or something, then felt the desk... like being on a boat! Hahaha

I think I felt it, but my desk area shakes like fuck every time a tram goes past, so I didn't even think it was anything.
