actually, Nasty Tek haven't put on a party for ages... Prince Andrew retired a couple years ago, and the Tek have been dormant since then. Firehouse are still running dances in Sydney though, and Surgeon General (Nick Toth and K-Note) and the Spin-D-Music crew are getting big numbers to their dancehall/soca events. These are all "sounds" in name only though, none of the above have a physical system.

What is the advantage of having a soundsystem? Is it just better quality sound? I'm presuming that these soundsystems in Jamaica were used in replace of established clubs? I'm just not sure what sort of purpose they would serve here in Aus where we have established clubs.
it's the ethos
MY BEDROOM IS PAINTED RED. ITS A HORRIBLY VIOLENT SHADE OF RED BUT I'M AFRAID TO CHANGE IT BECAUSE I FEEL I MIGHT MAKE LESS AGGRESSIVE MUSIC IF I DO.

listen to reggae/dub/dubstep on someone's brand new and undoubtedly very shiny nexo/funktion one, and then listen to it on a system like heartical. it's absolutely night and day.

i've only ever heard two funktion one systems in the entire world which did any justice at all to dubstep: the system at plastic people (home of fwd>>), which is just perfect for the entire room and has enough sub to rearrange your insides, and redrum in helsinki, which funktion one kitted out themselves to use as a showroom for their clients.

as pinch said, if your chest ain't rattlin', it ain't happenin'. no matter how crisp the highs are.
