Thanks Andy, and everyone else.. its very encouraging to hear this, when im just having fun
i could pull up a million flyers and designs for parties over the years cause ive got a massive box full of them. My favourites used to be the old Hardware parties 'War of the Worlds..' Not only did they have flyers though, but whole campaigns or CDs, brochures, posters, animations, etc. and everything used to be used to the full potential to decor the venue with the same style, and it looked and felt amazing. I've got stuff somewhere, I'll pull it up.
I really like the city of lost children flyer. I think the level of detail it goes into to create a visual world give the party and identity before you're even there. It gets people excited and massively familiar with the party, so when they walk in and see in a consistant decor with the flyer and collateral, the experience of the night will burn into their memory without even hearing any music.
I'm not really with you on the message to music theme petey.. i think some of the best things can be seperated. i think the fabric design team are a good example of this, having some of the most ambigiuous flyers and cds and so on, that bring an extra level of depth and personality to the music.
but saying that, your flyers have a level of consistancy that no other crew does in melbourne.. i'm always a fan.. and love the current ikonika one..
have to give props to BBA flyers as well.. never a bad one, classic rave flyer style too..
enough design nerd rant from me, i'll scour the mac for some photos..
