I guess "Soul Plane" used up all his creative energy and he had nothing left.

AFTER LIFE
Love this film!!Such a cool concept, from the MIFF site:
Guides assist the newly dead in selecting their most treasured memory, the one they will take with them to eternity. While some people have no trouble choosing, others agonise over the decision. A multitude of stories emerge, most of them gleaned from the hundreds of interviews Kore-eda conducted with ordinary citizens, some of whom appear in the film. Meanwhile, the staff gather to discuss various cases, especially those in danger of never recovering a truly joyous memory
Also, absoloutley hanging to see Control

Control looks very good, esp how Samantha Morton is in it. Thanks for the heads up on that one.

I'm interested in Still Life, a chinese film about a town submerged in the Three Gorges Dam project in China.

i watched Snoop's Hood of Horrors on Saturday and my god was it bad. It was so bad it was almost good. At least it wasn't boring, and there were a few titties and ultra-gruesome violence.

Seeing a guy get skull fucked by a 40 ounce bottle came a close second to seeing a woman have her belly pumped with caviar until it exploded.

Just Saw this last night
MADE IN JAMAICA

Image

“Made in Jamaica embraces both the spiritual and the carnal expressions of the island’s best music.” – Toronto Film Festival

Reggae is Jamaica’s blues: A music of both desperation and hope. Instantly recognisable, today it can be heard in every corner of the world.

Made In Jamaica portraits the leaders of the movement and the story behind the music: Religion and Rastafarism, slavery, sex, salvation and the more modern explosion of dancehall. Opening with a tribute to assassinated reggae superstar Bogle, this documentary captures the frenzy of Jamaica’s dancehalls, plus interviews with reggae royalty like Third World, Gregory Isaacs, Bunny Wailer, Toots, Beres Hammond and Lady Saw.

“[Jérôme] Laperrousaz often captures [the musicians] right in the streets. Sound systems pound out deep-bass riddims on street corners, in yards and on Jamaica’s famous beaches.” – Toronto Film Festival

Did anyone else catch this?
Was pretty sweet, Damn those Jamaican girls were skanky!

We saw Control the other nite @ the Forum. Funny as seein a movie in there. Film was cool....all about Ian Curtis, Joy Division singer. Rather ironic having so much Tony Wilson in this story.
