Anyone going?

And does anyone know what the music situation is... is it mostly psy, or do they have DNB, breaks what?

I have signed up for 8 days of this... I hope I don't live to regret it :?

I guess I can always escape to Mexico...

I met someone at NYE who is a friend of friend and lives near where they have it. I can put you in touch with him if you want. He was a nice guy.

He said you have to take your own water (hot there!) and that you can't buy anything on site. You can only exchange stuff.

they play all sorts of music there... theres about 40,000 people and hundreds of music areas. Its not something you go for the music.

i have friends in toronto who've made the annual trek for many years, it's the grounding point of their lives.

yes, bring gifts... for that you can exchange for alcohol, food, sex, etc. There are sex tents there, yes. Its very open hippy type.

i want to go before i die, or before it ends. gawd dammit i really wanna go.

AMAZING EVENT.

everything is on barter system, sex included. (but its not like confest or summin, they arent all crusty ferals!) so you take like, mojitios for a hundred people and you get everything else in exchange for your mojitos.

art is the point of the festival, not music.

go elly, go.
you wil not regret it.

 BRB. Would be interested to hear about the music side of things from your mate because, as GK says, it is primarily an art festival. But they do let sound systems in, so I'm guessing I can find some heads lurking about.

lol @ nudecore. My friends are going nude, but I think I shall be wearing clothes, due to the hot desert sun.

Nice idea on the mojitos GK. I was struggling to think of items to take to barter with, but you have solved the problem for me :smt023

To anyone that's never been to BM before, just go. To this date, still one of the best experiences of my life:

Neon hopping kangaroos, bearded ladies, the biker gang from 'Every Which Way But Loose', acrobats, giant fighting robots, skeleton petting zoo, the alter of John Holmes (with giant penis couch included), fireworks, tribal drumming x 20, large group/semi-nude dancing (think Lord of the Flies--only with hippies), Sci-Fi autos patrolling the playa, piercings...my god, there are piercings in every orifice you could possibly imagine, long walks through the Nevada desert (bring warm clothing for night, trust me) to get to the best "dance" tent there--Braindrops, etc, etc. Think the city scene from Mad Max - Beyond Thunderdome and yer getting close to the experience.

I will venture back one day when I'm older for a bit of perspective, but it's one of the most creative, sensual and fun experiences you can have.

My advice to anyone attending:

1. Hire an RV with generator/air con/heater for Margharitas, tunes and lounging in the day when it's blistering hot and you'll be happy to have a warm spot to arrive at when you finish up each night at 6am. Plus, you'll need a place to hide all the "party favours" you'll be bringing in with you...I suggest unscrewing the air con and putting it behind there. Worked for us. The State Rangers will be inspecting ALL vehicles upon entry and exit AND Nevada has harsh drug laws. So be careful. With the RV, you'll also have a fridge for all the food/water/whatever you need to bring.

2. Plenty of music options, just be open. You'll be surprised, trust me.

Just go...

This year's theme is "The American Dream"... quite an interesting, thought provoking and controversial topic.

I am going to go as the Bill of Rights one night... I'll leave you to imagine how I am going to design my costume for that one!

What am I going to decorate our RV as though? Any ideas from the arty amongst you? GK, I am looking at you :D
