most likely, missed them earlier this year cos they were on so early and the Q was so huge

have to see raja rockin out on the flute not to mention the drumming and other live instrumentalists

pretty pricey though??... it was like 35 at the hifi with raja also doin a big psy set and a bunch of other support

Yeah, this will be ace. Same weekend as Maitreya Festival. Maybe their playing there too???

Given that Spiro = oil and the promoter from Maitreya = water, I don't think Sphongle will be playing at Maitraya.

Nevertheless, I have been waiting for this for a long, long time.

What a way to celebrate our return to Melbourne

Also, Spiro said on ITM that Shed 4 will have a funktion 1 rig, so no need to worry about reverb.

I think the party you're thinking of is Tribeadelic - 3 day bush doof, run by Ozzy.

It will be Simon Posford on decks - no full band.

ITM etc are going crazy at the moment claiming that Earthcore wasn't meant to announce the full band until AFTER that gig, and in doing so, broke contract and yada yada yada yada yada yada yaaarrrr........

The plot thickens, Just received this email fromn Earthcore:

"Hello,

Dear all

We have recently had our Shpongle tour canceled and have been slandered by the tour agent Simon Holton and co agent Ron Rilvin.

In a recent press release from him he stated

"It was agreed that no promotion would take place prior to deposit"

In another public statement co agent Ron Rilvin stated

"The Shpongle tour was canceled two weeks ago"

Both comments are false and was not agreed upon on our contractual agreement and nor via email correspondence between all
parties involved.

Please see contract attached as proof that Simon's comments are false and misleading.

We are now in the process of commencing litigation against Simon Holton from Twisted Records and Ron Rilvin from Coast to
Coast for damages caused to our company.

Earthcore has been instructed to cease all trading until litigation has been commenced upon various parties and a outcome has
been made.

We will keep you posted.

Twisted Records Limited, Artist performance contract.
This contract is made on this _______ day of ___________________ 2008
between the undersigned “Purchaser Venue/ Promoter and the “Artist” or Artists
agent on Artists behalf. It Supercedes any other agreement(s), where provisions
are duplicated. The purchaser hereby agrees to engage the Artist(s) and the
Artist(s) agree(s) to perform the engagement hereinafter provided, per all terms
and conditions as stated herein, and those of any attached riders provided by the
Artist.
Artist(s): Shpongle LIVE PERFORMANCE
Place(s) of Engagement: Melbourne and Sydney, Australia
Address: To be confirmed by Venue/ Promoter
Date(s): of Engagement: 7th March 2009 and 9th March 2009
Exclusivity of Live Performance: Until 9th July 2009
Artist(s) Fee: €100,000.00 EUROS
Payment / Balance:
A non-refundable advance deposit of 20%- €20,000.00 EUROS upon signature
of this agreement, Then further payments of:
30% of the Artists fee being €30,000.00 in cleared funds by 15 January 2008
30% of the Artists fee being €30,000.00 in cleared funds by 23 February 2008
20% of the Artists fee being €20,000.00 in cleared funds by 8th March 2008
Transport/ Accommodation/ Meals:
Promoter shall provide 12 Working Visas.
Promoter shall provide 12 return Flights from UK To Australia. 2 of which shall be
Business Class for Raja Ram and Simon Posford. 1 Return flight from Tokyo for
band member Nogera.
Promoter shall provide 12 hotel rooms in 5 star hotel accommodation for duration
of engagement in Australia and provide suitable transport for Artist for duration
of stay. Promoter to provide one meal per day for all crew and band members
Backline and Rehearsals:
Venue/ Promoter to supply rehearsal studio no smaller than 14.4m x 9.6m
Venue/ Promoter to supply all backline for the show and rehearsals.
Audio and Recording:
No recording of the show in any way what so ever will take place unless agreed
in writing with Twisted Records Limited before the night of the event.
Insurance:
Venue/ Promoter agrees to retain any or all personal injury or property damage
liability insurance with respect to the activities of Artist on the premises of
Venue/Promoter or at such other location where Venue/Promoter directs Artist to
Perform. Venue/Promoter agrees to indemnify and hold Artist harmless from any
and all claims, liabilities, damages, and expenses arising from any action or
activity of employer or Artist while Artist is rendering the contracted services
except for claims arising from Artist’s willful misconduct or gross negligence.
Cancelation:
In the event that artist cancels for any reasons advance deposits will be returned
in full. In the event that the Venue/ Promoter cancels the show for any reasons
(not withstanding natural disasters/ catastrophes) without at least (5) five weeks
notice to Artist, Venue/ Promoter forfeits advance deposits thus Venue/ Promoter
will pay artists, as liquidated damages, one half of guaranteed fee. In the event
that the Venue/ Promoter cancels any performances less than (2) two weeks
before the date of such performances, Venue/ Promoter will pay Artist, as
liquidated damages, the full guaranteed fee agreed to be paid for such
performances, The agreement that musicians perform is subject to detention by
sickness, accident, riot, strikes, epidemic, acts of God or other legitimate
conditions beyond their control.
Disputes:
In the event, any dispute arises under this agreement that results in litigation or
arbitration, the prevailing party shall be paid reasonable lawyer fees and costs by
the losing party. This contract shall be governed by United Kingdom Law, may be
modified only by signed writing, and is binding and valid only when signed by the
parties below, and artist has received the deposit specified no later than 31st
October 2008.
Then parties hereto hereby acknowledge that all provisions, terms and
conditions, contained herein and any riders are made part of this Agreement, as
well as other documented provisions not included here but provided by Venue/
Promoter.

How was Spiro ever expecting to make any money out of those 2 shows with that appearence fee of 100,000 euro. With the current exchange rate that's almost $200,000 + add on all the flight costs. Would have to have been 2 huge shows!
