The much anticipated ( and much discussed on mb: http://melbournebeats.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3398 )announcement of the 33&1/3 NYD international line up has arrived, pleasing the breaks fans with the return of favourites The Stanton Warriors as well as first time trips for Ils and Irish breakbeat up & comers Splitloop
Drum n Bass fans will be treated with Fresh and Ram Records' Shimon gracing the stage.
Also Andy Smith, of Portishead and Dynamo Productions will be performing a hip hop DJ set.
All this plus 50 of our finest locals across four areas.
Running from midday til 3am - 15 hours of madness.
Splitloop - the finest and most prolific producers in breakbeat today. They go from as hard as nails, to almost Fingerlickin style stuff, and are definately my faves at the moment.
Their stuff on Sinister is just awesome.
I'm unfortunately over the Stantons, sorry, but will definately be there to see Splitloop and Ills - two of the best in the business.
Just out of curiosity are Splitloop playing live, or are they doing a dj set? From what I've heard of their mixes it will be good either way.

I know how hard you ladies work in the lead up to this day. This is a fantastic and diverse line-up - congrats.
It's impossible to please everyone.. i would hate to be in your position. Even so, with 50 of our local crew playing, i hope that heads come down and represent in true Melbourne community spirit... Damn I this city!

There is absolutely no logic to what you just wrote. The 50 locals are still going to be there, plus you get internationals, plus you get to spend 15 hours hanging out with your mates marking the start of a new year in fine style. If that isn't worth $40 bucks then I don't understand the value of a dollar.
If there was ever an opportunity to support your local talent this is it.

Splitloop farken rock! Definately rate them over Stantons in terms of production, but Stantons do put on a rocking show, so it will be good to see them go head to head!
And Andy Smith!!! Missed him when he's been doing his shows around Melb of late, reckon he'd fit in perfectly for a nyd gig!

I just get 'niggled' occcccasssssionally when someone inadvertantly expresses something and it gets quoted then scripted then hung then drawn. I just dont reckon it needs to be drilled in that hard, unless it is baiting of course.
I think it may have been the timing and the tone that got people a bit fired up, there's a lot of peeps that are pretty protective of the scene given that it is fairly close knit and all...

I'd love to go. Pity about the bouts of claustraphobia and feeling like a sardine in the espy. A great venue for looks, but shit when its bursting at the seems. It's not made for that many people with all those small doorways.
Are Agent mad still selling the same amounts of tickets as previous years?
Don't get me wrong, I love 33 and have gone to most of them since 2001, but that many people in the espy is wrong. I don't think its right to sell that many tickets at the expense of patrons comfort and safety. My girlfriend passed out from the crush when Tali was playing at easter last year and we weren't even at the front. Despite the fantastic music, I'm not sure if I'd ever go to an espy 33 again.
Have AM done anything about this because I'm sure they realise this has been a massive problem. I'd pay extra if I knew they were selling less tickets but in the end I know that probably wouldn't happen.
Has anyone else had this problem at the espy parties?
