Best train lines for Graf??

Post by C.I.A. »

I'm writing an article about graffiti on Melbourne train lines, and I'm wondering if anyone out there could help me out. I'm comparing best lines for quality pieces... need the following info:

1. Train line (eg. Sandringham),

2. The stops that the pieces are between, and

3. Any further info (eg artist/crew involved (if known))

Cheers :)

Hurstbridge line

I'll ask Quinn, he had a few months off work and spent most of that time driving around taking photo's of graff. He's got the biggest photo album of Melbourne graff I've ever seen

Quick side note to people posting in this thread: Beware the current crack down on graffiti in this town. Tread carefully, and don't drop names!

Even peeps with photo albums, driving taking photos, taking photos on platforms, you name it... suspicion is high.

That would be awesome. I need some pix too. Was hoping to get out there before the commonwealth scrub-down that I'm sure is going to happen, but don't like my chances.

Frankston/Pakenham/Cranbourne line between Richmond and Caulfield (that's my stop - might be more past there too)... Can't remember the dudes tag-name, the guy that draws those cool/wierd shaped animations - I think Lynt has talked about him before.

Yeah, Lynt is right...

Perhaps don't bother with crew/artist names. Just spots would be sweet.

It is a great spot to start not to far from the city because there is walls up to a couple hundred metres long with massive all crew sections, oversize peices, some golden oldies and the rest. Everyone from SDM to WCA and characters from Reka and the best of the best are there somewhere.

South Yarra to Flinders St for south side is also prime for anyone to hit.

Between Richmond and Glenferri is also large in terms of quality and seeing which crews have coverage.

Only doing train lines Cia?

Who knows man, but I know someone who has been charged by his photo album.. they used it to fine him for most of the burners. Big arse evidence, plus if they ever need a scapegoat.. he has to proove he didnt do em. Etc.

they use it as proof in conjunction with other evidence. If you have a scrap book with hundreds of sketches of one name, photos of some of those sketches actaully done, cans, paint on your hands and been cause at least once in the act, you got to have evidence against you for sure.

Yeah... was totally blown away by the stuff I saw on the way to a job interview; got me thinking about a guide to the best lines to catch. Want to end up doing a review of a different area each month, but with the crack-down at the moment I want to be careful... no point in getting anyone in trouble, so I'll start off with a general guide.

Specifics will have to come when the government has calmed down

alot of graffers take photos of their own works. if u do you can get fined alot more for having those photos.

cops take your films cameras, and photos and develop them for investigation

if they can clear that they are just personal photos you can get them back

I guess you need some good proof that you didnt do the graffiti your takin photos of

no need to keep it to just lines then me thinks. Heaps of legal walls and other spots with old pieces that would make it interesting guide too...

Although seeking and finding is half the fun. I ended up in some sketchy spots in London doing this. Every spot i would go and meet someone I would have them draw me a map or sketch in my book for me about where else to go.

brunley isn't looking as good as it used too :(

b/w richmond and south yarra are some cool pieces.

also on the cranbourne, pakenham, dandenong lines between south yarra and malvern (i think someone already mentioned this) there is some rad shit.

actually come to think of it, there are some side street off swan st between church st and burnley st that have some pretty cool shit too.

edit: maybe i won't put the artist in. :?

Ide say the belgrave/Lillydale lines are pretty schmick, especially around Box Hill, howver some dick has recently laid clame to a lot of the walls with some hideous bubbly font.

Totally BRB, but try and convince the cops otherwise without being under intense suspicion. They could make you drop names etc.
How can the police make you do anything? 'Look out sonny, we're going to arrest you .... for having a book of grafitti. Yeah, that's right.'

Seems weird to me when paedophiles can get off on loopholes even though they have child porn and statements made against them ... i doubt the police care that much about nabbing some graf fan.
