ANYTIME at Workshop :: May 5th
For those familiar with Workshop, ignore this paragraph. For those yet to get down and get wasted with DJ's Seven, Dust and Lynt, at our baby ANYTIME, then this is the week for you. Continuing fortnightly on April 21st, the cats who're known best for their contribution to the drum&bass and beats&breaks scene have peeled off the faster tempos for something a little more intimate.
ANYTIME is just that, breaking free of the tempo regime and playing a host of our favourite beats in our collection. From our homegrown roots to shit we bought yesterday, it doesn't matter. What matters is the unique oppertunity to play what we love most, music.
If you haven't been to Workshop, then pop down on the lazy Friday and kick it in the beer garden to the sounds of Dust, Seven, Lynt. Our special guest is one of the more eclectic players on the scene, a scratch technique aspired to by most and a collection like no-other. Emerging from a Syncopated Zen is the one like gsan. Turn on, tune in and drop moves on the floor to the sounds of how gsand puts it... "deep beats". We're peaking with excitement. Dust, Seven and Lynt will be rocking downbeat, hip-hop, house, rare groove, and the deepest of D&B... anything that's got the rhythm.
Lineup...
8pm: Lynt (hip-hop, downtempo, 4 asahis and 3 jagers)
9:30pm: Seven (nu-jazz, hip-hop, broken beats, 8 pints, 2 tequilas)
11:00pm: gsan (deep and dirty, hip-hop excursion supreme)
12:30pm: Dust (hip-hop, beats, latte and sneaky smokes)
2am: We play till we get kicked. (jager, tequila, snort pocket)

Hey matt... kinda the same, but we leave breaks & jungle out of it. We play anything. I'm gonna play straight up Jazz and Latin funk this week.cuznmatt wrote:man. am spewing. we have a more bass on same night, pretty much same time. sounds like you guys are pretty much doing what we got going on down the other end of elizabeth st, hiphop thru breaks, dub n jungle. we knock off at one so might pop in after. not sure though, might be going to hyper.

those are often the best partiescuznmatt wrote:reminds me of my whateverthefuckwelike series of parties back in the day.
my housewarming next week has a growing list of quality DJs and no set times or specified genres of music. whatever happens happens.
then again, it's all about the magic cookies.

that can get messy. especially when some knob rocks up with a crate of hard house and nrg. ew. yay to non specific genre, but who let this guy bring this crate full of abomination.universal sea wrote:those are often the best partiescuznmatt wrote:reminds me of my whateverthefuckwelike series of parties back in the day.

i wouldn't mind doing a rock scissors paper battle where it comes down to the result of a bout of rock scissors paper to decide who's up next. some people can shitty when there's no set times as well.

well, I know the DJs and there will be no crap, other than maybe a few tracks from one dodgy individual
it's more I don't know when people are showing up from other commitments that night and I'm not going to say, be here 2am! 90 minute set! for a silly little house party.
but yes I'm sure set times will wind their way into reality soon. if not, the rock scissors paper battle to end all rock scissors paper battles. the goal is no stress no matter what happens.
