Theres name dropping.......................and then theres Carl Cox
This deserved its own thread and everybody knows it.
If I had bumped into Carl Cox in the street randomly and had a chat with him I would have started a thread to.
If you met Jesus Christ in the street would you tell your friends that story? To me its the same thing!

I high fived Glenn Robbins once. Does that count.
What about if I went to high five him and was left hanging. Cos thats what really happened.
Ok, I actually saw him from across the street and mentioned to my friends that it would be cool to go high five him, and I could have if I wanted to. I just didn't want to. Yeah.

Yeah he shops at Made In Japan at Chadstone, I sold him on the idea of using japanese tea cups for his sake instead of the sake cups cause you have to refill too often...... His missus thought that was a fine idea..... lolDr How? wrote:All right, all right - I just wanted to see if anyone else has met him cus he's living in Melbourne.
I think he said he has a flat on Flinders Lane. He's here till June.
He's got the right idea - Moving from summer to summer.
No-one else knew who he was.....
He owns a house in Frankston - that is why Chaddy and not the better store at South Melbourne, cause I am pretty sure he like the beaches etc for the kiddies.....

Fred and I somehow managed to get (the crappest) accomodation in the most expensive area on the monopoly board, it is absolutely swarming with lame celebs: Mayfair spots to date: Kate Moss and Pete Doherty walking out of posh toff restaurant Cipriani, Posh Spice coming out of Claridges (huge fucking entourage in tow), That short guy from Snatch and guitarist from INXS drinking at the pub Fred works at (not together), a multitude of local actors who have had small speaking parts on the Bill or Eastenders or some such rubbish but BEST SPOT EVER - Geoffrey from Rainbow at a bookshop on Oxford street. Zippy was absent unfortunately.
Kate is absolutely fucking GORGEOUS. I would even go as far as to say THE most beautiful girl on the planet. I love her and want to have filthy lesbian relations with her. Pete can go fuck off and jack up in some dark corner somewhere.

since it's name dropping week.........
with three other people least year, after his show, we waited, talked off guards asking us to leave, but it was worth it......
I personally met Josh Davis "DJ Shadow" at the Palace. I was still tripping on pills and had my record cover and a white out pen for him to sign.
It was an amazing experience. He came across as a very polite! and HUMBLE person. Very graciouse and appreciative of the fact people were waiting so long to get his signature. For example, he told one person "sorry about how my signature looks, its hard to sign t shirts."
I wish I had something smarter to say than "it's a whiteout pen, you have to squeeze it a bit for it to work...."
After a firm handshake I said "thanks for making meaningful hip hop we all appreciate it"
and he smiled

I can remember having a chat with you while you were waiting, you were pretty wasted.SoulWhiteMan wrote:since it's name dropping week.........

a muso friend of mine knows him through eric powell. he's a guitarist and doesn't know the second thing about dance music; we were sitting around one day after one of his gigs and he's chatting about his mate carl who is a dj, mentions that he's moved over from england recently and i'm like, "carl cox?!" and he says, "yeah, do you know him too?"Dr How? wrote:All right, all right - I just wanted to see if anyone else has met him cus he's living in Melbourne.
"for serious the world is gone wrong when we dance to fire alarms."

i'd be stoked to meet carl cox too and him being a nice geezer doesn't surprise me at all
i always meet the ghey famous people- like dr harry
friend of mine drank cognac with harvey kietel and quentin tarantino in a seedy bar in the bronx and also know a girl who ran into chopper on chapel st of all places. now, they're some cool people to meet
Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind - Dr. Seuss
I cringe at this, but, Djing at Lounge one night i had Cathy Freeman on my dance floor for about 3hrs, i actually felt for her after 100 or drunk chicks would fall all over her saying how much they loved her. Sat around a table at Lounge discussing how Ashton from the Freestylers should go up to the girl on the dancefloor and yes she would like him, he was alittle shy. Mc Sir Real kept pestering McD and myself to roll him another spliff, a very funny, surreal night. I got to meet one my idols Phil Hartnoll a couple of weekends ago, and to have him turn around a praise my set that i had just played, with him on the dance floor rockin out too it. I got to meet Leroy from the Prodigy, which was pretty cool. I met the Soul of Man were friendly enough.
Most of them are real friendly down to earth people just like us, tho occassionaly there are those tools, who should just go back from wence they came.

I have a customer that is a dead ringer for Carl Cox, I actually got real worried the first time I saw him thinking... OMG he has bought a house in Broady too, but I don't think it is him! But damn, next time I will try and take a photo with my shoe camera. & just in case, I pack his stuff extra carefully!
(i don't have a shoe camera - I'm not a psycho)
