Man, Freestylers are a world class pop act.
Luv the new album, because it's so god damn genre bending.
Might like 'raw as fuck' more. but whom cares.
I'm just keen to go out and not hear 5 hours of Djs playing all the same sound at all the same tempo.
much respect.
oh well.
Catch ya'll at something else then.

PS: 'Raw as Fuck' and the first time I saw Freestylers ruled!
Not so anymore in my opinion... last time was ordinary to say the least...

I'm with you Shep.shepherd wrote:not sure why everyone dickrides raw as fuck - it was pretty rubbish.
We Rock Hard is the best LP in breakbeat EVER imo ... and one of the better 'dance' albums of the 90's, Classic shit right there ... never underestimate the 'stylers
Raw as Fuck sucked!!
Man I hated that shit, and i remember every DJ dropping that shit in every breaks set for a year when it all came out.
'We rock hard' rules - but 'pressurepoint' still has a special place in my heart.
I've never seen the Freestylers play a good DJ set - ever.
Seems to be just hard out cheese the last few years, all mixed in a very, very average way.
Doesn't change the fact that they are probably the best producers in the biz - but I guess everyone has to make a buck, and appeal to a mass audience at some time in their career.

I totally rate the new album.
One of the most inventive and forward thinking electronic albums I've heard in a helluva long time. It actually has <gasp> SONGS!! A seemingly forgotten concept these days.
And yes 'We Rock Hard' is the shizz. My tattered vinyl copy doesn't leave the house anymore, much like my tattered vinyl copy of Pressure Point.
Whatever else you say, Freestylers have led the genre for many years. Much respect to them.

Respect to Freestylers. Got me into dance music in the first place. Got all the comps they've done (on the iPod nowadays) and yes, my copies of 'We Rock Hard' and 'Pressure Point' rarely make it out because I'm afraid of them disintegrating...though my bag's never been without 'Dont Stop' & 'B-Boy Stance' since they were purchased...shit, 7 years ago.
Damn, I'm old!
I cant say I've heard the new album, but I'd probably like it if it's got songs to sing along to. Been meaning to buy it, but others have come first that I'm more into nowadays.
Still, ya gotta respect the longevity these guys have had. They crossed the gap between dance culture and pop music...bound to be a backlash over that. I dont think they ever said they stood for the underground, unless I'm mistaken (probably am). All I know is the first time I ever heard of them was opening up for Lenny Kravitz, so they were pop to me before anything else. I'm not ol skool dance cool.

The only freestylers songs i hear gettin played out these days are ones that have been remixed cos the originals are shite IMO.
They're hardly leading the breaks genre these days if u ask me. I'd say the plumps and stantons took that crown from them ages ago and you couldn't even say they are leading it now. So much good breaks out there. Sooo much better stuff than what the freestylers are producing.
