Raggamuffin 2009

Post by DBoy »

Raggamuffin is back in 2009. Get ready Australia, as we play host to the best live funk, dub, hip hop and soul on the planet in a veritable musical reggae feast.

Headlining will be reggae icon Bob Marley`s eldest son Ziggy Marley, along with Eddy Grant, Stephen Marley, Shaggy, Arrested Development, Inner Circle and Bonjah

tickets are $190 - wow, but may consider this as the only festival i would go to depending who else is announced. at the music bowl.

Would be great if it was outdoors this time, rather than a seated arena

What a wicked line-up. $190 is steep though. Side shows?

Just got an email from ticketek 30 seconds after posting on this forum, It's at The Music Bowl and they are doing extra cheap tickets for people on their mailing list again!

$190 is FUCKING STEEP.

A real shame, I was thinking this would be cool to go to.

What an awesome sounding show...

BUT I hate the music bowl. I think it's one of the worst venues in the country and can't understand why people keep using it for such events. I'm sure it's perfect for carols by candles, but that's about it...

The only time I've actually enjoyed a show there is Good Vibrations in 2003 with Jamiroquai and that's only because we managed to score seats close to the stage early on in the day.

Every other times I've been there - usually at great expense travelling over from Adelaide - it doesn't matter who the promoter is, it's been organised worse than a munchies run at 4am after a week long bong-a-thon.
Ready to drop, Audio rock, here comes the boy from the South!

Eddy Grant??? better lineup than the last one, but still pretty sad if you ask me. Shaggy has done some killer tunes in between pop hits though, and Stephen Marley is always wicked, so I'll probably check this one anyway. Arrested Development are cool and all, but at a "reggae" fest?

yeah, I'd love to see Groundation out here... I'm sure it will happen eventually, but really I can't see it happening in the near future unless a festival like Womad picks up a good share of the airfare costs, etc...
