Lol! I think your accent is more Irish than Seppo, Kitty :)

Saw a freaky docco where they looked at the origin of the North American accent.. this spot in Ireland where everyone sounds like they come from bizzaro USA... did my head in.

I'm currently loving 'around the world in 80 gardens'. Dude hosting it is such a massive nerd and he gets so genuinely excited by the evolution of gardens and their reflection of society and our relationship with nature that I want to invite him over for tea and crumpets.

David Attenborough also on high rotation at the moment. Life of Birds, the earth series etc.
I wanted to be a hero. I wanted to be the center of attention. I wanted the glory, I wanted the fame. I wanted the pretty girls to come up and say, "Hi, I see that you're good at Centipede."

Way to make Australia (Melbourne) look like the backwater arse end of the world....
Add this to the other "Aussie Pride" issues....and we really dont look as tolerant and accepting as most of us would like to think we are.
Whoever at 9 thought that was a good idea to bring that act back should be reemed.

What a load of shit.

There was not one iota of malice or degradation in that skit, it was harmless (but ordinary) fun. The lead in the skit was even an Indian-Australian.

could not agree more. anyone who sees this is as being racist light needs to wake the fuck up, seriously.

the colours/races displayed in the skit were not intended to portray a political view, merely as comedy. shame to anyone who speaks bad of our great country in a circumstance like this, find your long lost sense of humour and lose the PC bullshit real fast. you're more than welcome to move to the great, free land of the USA and gobble about your misplaced racial issues where someone (albeit an American) will actually take your side and listen.

I believe this shows how comfortable Australians really are with multiculturalism.. we don't need to drift into the same arena as American TV, we can crack a joke and find humour in it, without being at the expense of a racial group..

thank GAWD I'm NART American.

but i just don't see the humour in it at all.
it's childish, it's distateful and it's out of place in today's society.
it's clearly poking fun. i wouldn't go so far as to call it racist, but seriously, minstrels haven't been about since the 1800s. :tard: that's what it looks like to me. i suppose it's essentially a joke about michael jackson's whiteness...but it doesn't really come across like that imo.
i'd like to know what some aborigines thought of it. i just think it shows a level of ignorance that's pretty shameful tbh.
i thought we'd moved on from this mindset and this feels like a massive step back in what australia already significantly lacks in terms of race relations. it says absolutely nothing about multiculturalism, that's like saying someone imitating an asian person would be embracing multiculturalism.

The majority of the performing group was Indian - so where the racial intent comes from I don't know.

I think the main reason it's been shit bagged is because of Harry's response which was miscontrued response because of how he perceived the act was and not what it actually was
which was a tribute to the Jacksons.

If anything - the only poor taste element is that it's so soon after MJ's death.

How about the Andrew Symonds 'monkey' incident?

Racism is not just white versus dark.

Indians can and have been racist towards African Americans too.

My point was based on this article that I read earlier today - http://www.news.com.au/couriermail/stor ... 22,00.html

The group is of a multicultural background, not just an Indian lead.

sorry if I confused Calstro

If anything out of Red Faces was offensive last night - it was the guy who did the beat box burp performance. That was horrid

I just watched a show called Blown Away - Twisted Terror, about the tornado that hit Parkersburg USA last year.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0PB0l6EEMcw

The maddest 42 seconds I've ever seen.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M1Fb_k_MYKY

250 houses torn to the ground but only 9 people died. Fucking amazing. Never seen anything like it.

Nope, I've seen peeps go on their own. The mega guess just gets doled out to whoever's on the podium though, no second chance to win stuff if I fail on stage.

On a cereal not, I think doubling you chances of playing the game would supercede the odds of being picked and hopefully taking home more money.
