Múm - The Corner in Richmond - Monday March 17th

Post by universal sea »

Múm return to Australia to celebrate the release of their highly anticipated 4th album ‘Go Go Smear The Poison Ivy’; a colourful, twitching & playful work of art, full of life affirming energy. Since their foundation in 1998, Múm have forged a sublimely bright, warm and rich take on electronica, imprinting it with their own unique sound and character. What sets the band apart from so many of their peers is both their strong, playfully haunted melodies, and sorcerous integration of analogue and digital technologies. Playing an assortment of instruments and percussion alongside some crisply programmed electronic washes, beats, dingdongs and beep-beeps, as well as found sounds and field recordings, the band’s talent, inventiveness and nose for musical exploration is immediately audible.

I bought my ticket today. Apparently they're playing another show in Northcote the night before as well.

From what I've heard from friends who've seen them, this should be one of the best, most haunting and beautiful gigs of the year.

My girlfriend fell into a jazz trance at the Necks, this was before we had seen the Mighty Boosh too.

Oh wow. That was just beautiful. And actually rocked out a lot more than I expected. Crowd were going nuts too, it was like a Beatles concert. I think even they were surprised at how much the crowd loved them. But I can't blame them - Múm were incredible.

Come back soon. Or take me with you.

It was a good show, best one I've been to in ages. I had dinner next to them, which was fun... cute. They were very relaxed, mostly spoke English, and had an aura about them.

I hope they come back and play a bigger venue, one unobstructed with higher ceilings, and preferably somewhere you can sit down and enjoy them.
