whats your favourite non-electronic music cd at the moment?

Post by bobinabottle »

a good 99% of my music collection is all techno/breaks/electro/dnb/prog etc however every now and again I enjoy listening to more acoustic kinds of sounds.

currently my favourite cd that I cant stop listening to is Sigur Ros - Takk. I simply cannot get enough of it

so what non-electronic musics cds are people listening to?

The Arctic Monkeys album that is being featured on triple j. There is also pretty catchy d&b mix of their tune "i bet you look good on the dancefloor" which is worth a listen.

an old Charlie Parker album. Can't remember the name but its the one that he recorded before he set fire to his bed that night after he nodded off whilst smoking.

Survived and was put in a mental instution the next day, where the greatest jazz musician ever spent the next six months plaing the sax in the hospital band.

Includes the first recording of Moose the Mooch which is the Birds ode to his then herion dealer of the same name, who had been busted a couple of weeks prior.

An amazing album.

Balanescu Quartet - Luminitza.

My CD wallet is stuffed full of albums of string quartets, chamber groups and orchestral music at the moment. All 20th century stuff - Ligeti, Reich, John Adams, Part. Fucking love it.

Is hip-hop electronica???

I'm not talking about 'Roots' style live stuff either...

If it's generally not, then: Biggie 'Duets' (worst title ever!)

If only the live stuff is not - then: Spearhead 'Home' :D

johnny cash is pretty acoustic, can't vouch for what Rick Rubin has processed it through - but some of those tracks American Music sessions are awesome. take a contemporary song and twist it into an emotional out pouring, that renders the original some what feeble.
