FRACTURED with DARKBEAT presents KOMA & BONES - JUN 9th

Post by ShiKung »

No strangers to Melbourne’s Breakbeat community KOMA & BONES have been incredibly busy of late. They've had monthly releases on their own label Burrito (current being 'Finger of Funk') as well as on Meat Katies Lot49, Tagsta and Lee Coombs' Thrust label. They have just remixed Nubreed, David Eckenback, Metric, Klaus Heavyweight Hill and Bassbin Twins adding to the two Albums and a crateload of remix’s already released. The boys are now touring Australia Canada and Eastern Europe.

Guaranteed to impress and make you shake your best. Aided by locals Lynt, Rollin Connection and a Special back 2 back set from Lil Missbreaks and Lil Stormer. Dancefloor action starts at 10pm with new upcoming DJ Citizen.com and resident Shikung and guest Lindemon playing the side room.

Door tax is only $20 and $10 on the guestlist so make sure you get there early to guarantee your spot.

Friday June 9th

@ Brown Alley, cnr of Lonsdale + King st, CBD

Koma & Bones are a three man outfit from the north west comprising of the dj'ing duo Koma & Bones and former drum and bass producer Proteus. Brought together by a deep love of twisted breakbeat the trio started to produce the kind of records that wanted to play in their dj sets.

Things started to happen for them when they remixed the classic 'God Within' track - by Phoenix on Dorigen music. The mix went on to become an anthem in America.

Remixes quickly followed with commisions from Hope Recordings, Carbon Records and Freakaboom. Their own solo work also began to turn heads, with releases on Dorigen music, Freakaboom and the highly acclaimed 'Powercut' on TCR. Strong support from Hybrid, Adam Freeland, Rennie Pilgrem, Blim,Tayo and Hyper and many others suggested the threesome had something to say.

A couple of years ago Koma & Bones unleashed their own label - Forged Recordings (which became highly sought after on both sides of the Atlantic) whilst continuing to release their own material on the scene's leading label TCR. With Forged ‘having a break’ the threesome have now started up a brand new imprint ‘Burrito’ – sure to cause a stir… Possibly their biggest tune to date - 'Morpheus' was released as part of the TCR 50 package. It was a monster of a track with support not just from the breaks scene but also many house djs. Koma + Bones had well and truly arrived. Next came their interpretation of the radio-friendly Beber + Tamra tune 'Travellin On' for Mob, followed swiftly by a mix CD on Street Beat and a Y4K album for Distinctive Breaks.
Their highly-acclaimed debut artist album ‘Blinded By Science’, was released 3years ago on TCR and last year the boys released their highly anticipated second album ‘Shutterspeed’ –on TCR. Their profile has been raised further with their amazing remix of Kosheen’s ‘Hide U’ which Rennie Pilgrem used on his ‘Tribalizm’ album, remixes for the likes of Crystal Method & EZ Rollers and by a remix of X-Press 2’s ‘Smoke Machine’ which helped earn them the title of ‘Best Breaks Remixers of 2002’ by Remix magazine in the USA. To top off a successful year, Koma&Bones achieved a dream when they were asked to remix New Order’s ‘Confusion’.

C U R R E N T P R O J E C T S
The boys have never been busier! They had a brand new track on the recent 100th release package for TCR, released new material for Meat Katies Lot49 imprint and their own label Burrito and have done remixes for the likes La Liga, Metric & Uptown Connection – and this is just in the last 4months!! They are about to remix the Bassbin Twins and Nubreed and have more releases lined up for the afore-mentioned labels. They continue to dj and tour extensively with forthcoming tours planned in Canada, Easter Europe and Australia.

You're gonna cap Koma and Bones?

Good idea (if it's after the gig) - that way you only have to pay a deposit.

Just the guestlist. Maybe. it can get a bit full on on the door if we had to many people and we would have people standing in the stairwell freezing if we had to check everyone through on a list.

I wasnt that clear was I?
