Fav bands: The Pixies, Sugar, Helmet, Prong, Slayer, Dub War, Neil Young, Brain Jons Town Massacre and am curently listening to Aussie band Ground Components.. I am currently playing bass with a couple of mates writing originals in the vein of The Pixes / Nirvana!!

I use to play bass, big fiend when it comes to math rock or post hardcore like Shellac, Fugazie, At The Drive In, also soft spot for Prong, Megadeth, Rollins band, Mudhoney (older) Dinosaur Jnr (older) and all whta you mentioned above. I've got more crates of non beats music, old punk, rock, metal, indie and industrial (which technically is beats but I classify as not beats).
I've just started mixing live badsn again after about 5 years of getting into DJ'ing - so satisfying to be in control of multichannel mixing boards.

Sorry, I'm too depressed to take your order. My dog left me for another man, my wife has rabies and the redness in my neck is starting to dissappear
I think I am, Therefore I am. I think

I listen to everything and anything.
From Iron Maiden, to Carol King, To the Church, Al Green, Blind Melon, Beethoven, The Melvins, Bruce Sprinsteen, Curtis Mayfield, David Gray, Guns and Roses, Pixies, Smog, Red Kross, Al Green, Ramones, Black Crowes, David Holmes, Inxs - I listen to anything at all, and I listen to everthing I can - the list go's on and on and on. Used to be right into the indy band thing metal/grunge both pre and post the Seattle craze when I was a kid too - Hard-ons, Meanies, Kyuss, Mudhoney, Sonic Youth, Helmet, Metallica (before the black album), Black Flag, Iggy, etc, etc - And this heavy stuff is the major influence in the music I prefer to spin and make these days.
And then there's dance music - hard breaks being my fave.
Big, big fan of the late sixties, early 70's - Stones, HUGE Beatles fan, Kinks, Small Faces, Easybeats, Credence, Hendrix, LRB (I love Glenn Shorrocks voice), massive Eric Clapton fan (he is still one of my musical gods), Neil Diamond, Neil Young, Rod Stewart, Elton John, Joe Cocker, Van Morrison, Led Zeplin, Steppenwolf, Kiss, Eagles, 10CC, Pink Floyd - the list goes on, and on and on and on.....
And I LOVE disco.
I could talk this era all day, as it is my fave - by far.
Then the Eighties - I listened to everything every other eighties child was into.
Some standouts being The Cure, AC/DC, Eurythmics, Blondie (Late 70's early eighties), Human League, New Order, HUGE Bowie fan, and Stevie Wonder is one of my faves too (But I guess he is more 70's and 60's ) - Again the list go's on.
Things I can't stand...
Modern day r&b, commercial top 40, death metal, and that grindcore/breakcore 250bpm static stuff. I have to have the funk.
Never been a huge fan of industrial either - but I can stand it sometimes when I'm really pissed. Emo's and Goths have always made me have a bit of a chuckle to myself - sorry.
I'm also not into Barber shop quartets. Their shirts shit me. And their little moustaches make me want to kill.

When I find an industrial DJ with a gay moustache, I'll let you know.
Better yet when I shave my beard into a gay moustache and land a gig playing gabba with r'n'b accapellas' I'll let you know.
You just might sway me.

It is quite a story - some people don't believe it.
I still don't believe it myself sometimes.

I was listening to steve Miller this morning - the best of. Love it.
Funny thing though, in the eighties, he and Hall and Oates sound exactly the same - and I love Hall and Oates too.
I'm a cheesey cunt.

imho Elliot Smith and Jeff Buckley wrote amazing music, genuinely exposing what they fealt to the world::: everyone you hear on commercial radio is trying to ride on the legacy these men created (and falling well short)Direktor wrote:Jeff Buckley is/was Emo???
just the way i see things: these guys wrote "real" emotional music before "emo" became a marketing tool, know what i mean?

I like to record the sound of cows fucking.
Take it home and put a beat to it.
Emulating the sound of that little know eighties band - A Flock of Tits.
Anyone want a copy of Evil's 10 All time fave bovine love songs - please get in touch.
Seriously tho...
Hey, I just remembered a band I was well into back in the day..
Archers of Loaf
Awesome band.
Anyone else get into them?
They were sort of like Pavement meets the Pixies.
They played a show in Aug-go-go records like 12 years ago.
Can't remeber if they were Candian or American?
Dug them in a big way.
