Hrrrm. Much prefered The Roots to J5. J5 were all boy-band rehersed, The Roots were pure pleasure-on-a-mic when they played together (IMHO).

Edit: whinge winge whinge.

s'ing the f up now.
I wanted to be a hero. I wanted to be the center of attention. I wanted the glory, I wanted the fame. I wanted the pretty girls to come up and say, "Hi, I see that you're good at Centipede."

Damn! this is the 1st year that I'm not instantly sold on the line-up..
However, I'll still be going as next year the planets will alighn/ agline/ aline/ aligne (how the fuck do you spell that?)
Any ways Good Vibes will be on Lindependance dance, so I'll be wasted...

i tend to agree, but chali 2na has the best mc's voice. watched dave chapelle block party on the weekend and ?love is a wicked drummer and i'm hanging to see the roots live again, but J5 are still a wicked live act, just the roots have a more impromptu band thing happening.
Back from the desert to stir things up a little :)

People always rave about the roots live.

I love the music but hated them live. Prehaps that was more to do with Metro
as a venue though.

I actually walked out.

edit: Was Metro not Hi Fi

Walked out??? Wowsers. They must have been less than average.

I've had my whinge, tho. Can't wait to see the rest of the lineup.

I'm being dead serious! Yea, they've made some shit, but if you look a bit past their hits, they've made some killer stuff. They have tinkered in just about every genre of dance/electronic music, and in some cases pioneered it.

Now all they need to do is put it on the same day as Big Day out and Kiss My Grass so I have three things to choose from on the one day

Just D/L'd some Lupe goodness yesterday on the advice of OB1 and Snowie... very impressed.

If I were to be picky, I'd say it'd be nice if he dropped the gangsta references as they've been done to death -0 but I guess he's just "keepin' it real" if that's where he's truly come from.

Reminds me a hell of a lot of other MC's such as fellow Chi-Towners, Kanye and Common and even 50 Cent - just a lot more talented and tight.
