Kenny Ken was the 1st ever Dj to rinse the Jungle sound In Australia over 10 years ago, he returns to Melbourne to host Jungle run 4 and treat us with a 100% Old Skool Set this Summer . .
Kenny Ken started DJing back in 1989 alongside the likes of Fabio, Grooverider, Jumping Jack frost and Ray Keith, he also played the 1st ever Groove Therapy Sessions alongside Stevie hyper D (R.I.P.) in Melbourne over a decade ago which is no doubt one of the most memorable parties we have seen to date.
Kenny Ken was resident at the famous Roast parties in London which he says played a major role in exposing the Jungle sound over the years to come.
By late 92 early 93 Kenny ken was playing around the clock at gigs such as World Dance, Telepathy, Helter Skelter, the list goes on. Then came AWOL which Kenny ken says were by the far the best parties and have never been matched by anyone up to this day. “I played at AWOL week in week out, the AWOL era is a huge part of my DJing career because that’s when I made my first tune called Everybody’s Friend which came out on Boogie Beat, then came Everyman which came out on Rugged Vinyl and was a huge release†Kenny ken won the Jungle Soundclash and says he still retains the belt!.

don't know why, i thought the BBA crew were quite explicit that he was playing old stuff and new stuff and i thought he played a pretty good mix.Keir wrote:randall was wicked mate, was just that everyone expected a 100% old skool set..patch wrote:randall was sick over here, dont know what would have been different back in melbs
stoked that this is going to be real jungle fest, fresh off the vine seen...
Back from the desert to stir things up a little
I thought Randall was completely sick!! Loved his set and i thought he played a good mix of old and new. But agree with Keir, its was all about expectations.Keir wrote:randall was wicked mate, was just that everyone expected a 100% old skool set..patch wrote:randall was sick over here, dont know what would have been different back in melbs
Cannot wait for Kenny, gonna be a mad party!

what frustrates me in these old school/new school discussions is that none of the djs or artists recognise new school, ragga styled, drumfunk jungle mashup jungle - mostly coming from USA, Canada, Eastern Europe, but also from UK as well.dust wrote:I thought Randall was completely sick!! in the normal frame of listening its either old school jungle (relegated to the past) or dum and bass. probably something to do with the insularity of the uk scene, but i dont see why people here have to be so locked down to that.
now maybe people dont like that stuff. or maybe they havent taken the time to check it. for a lot of old school fans, they dont know what they are missing. there is a lot of crap, but some of these tunes are total killer, and proper old school vibes too.
all that said a top old school set from a master is a lot of fun, and repeact for putting it on. just not very contemporary or progressive is all.
